Björn Bösenberg · Computer scientist · Berlin

I wrote code for over twenty years. The last 138,000 lines, I didn't.

I build web-based applications with AI that people understand and can keep developing themselves.

Teams with their own software get hands-on consulting at the code level, whether they want to adopt AI tools or secure software that AI has already built. For small companies without developers I build applications in a way that lets them carry on alone. And where capacity is simply missing, I take over the implementation.

The point

Who understands the code that AI wrote?

Many companies are building software with AI tools at the moment, often quickly and with a convincing first result. The difficulty comes later. Something needs to change, a bug appears, and nobody in the company knows why a piece was built the way it was. Code that no one understands cannot be maintained safely.

I have been developing software since 2002, from the interface down to the database, and for much of that time I also ran it in production myself. A few years ago I began moving my way of working to AI agents; by now the switch is complete. I read and review the generated code myself, and along the way I found out where the tools are dependable and where a closer look is needed.

Services

What I help with

Everything centres on web-based applications: software used in the browser and run on a server. That covers internal business applications and tools for recurring workflows, reporting and portals for customers or partners, up to public online products with their own customer base.

Starting point

Compact audit of AI-generated code

Already running software that was built partly or entirely with AI? I review it and give you an assessment of where it is solid and where action is needed. Scope of one to two consulting days.

Fixed price from €900 net
Longer term

Ongoing support

A fixed monthly allowance of hours for questions, reviews and changes, much like a retained tax advisor. An audit, consulting days or an enablement project are a good starting point.

Monthly or quarterly allowance

All prices plus statutory VAT.

Enablement

Independent of your agency.

Many small companies wait on their agency for every change. After an enablement project that is over: you own the solution instead of renting it. Code, accounts and access are yours from day one, and your existing IT provider stays where they are.

  1. Initial callWe clarify what the application should do and who on your side will take care of it.
  2. Setup on your accountsCode hosting, AI assistant, database. With guardrails, so nothing gets lost when you make changes.
  3. ImplementationI develop the application; from the first session you work in the same tools.
  4. Sign-offYou carry out a complete change on your own. Only then is the project complete.
  5. AfterwardsYou maintain the application yourself. If you like, I stay available through a support allowance.

Memstead: reference project and working tool

Memstead is a graph memory for AI agents. Knowledge lives as typed, interlinked markdown files in a git repository and is connected via MCP. There is no database and no vendor lock-in, and every write is checked against a schema you define yourself.

Memstead shows how I develop with AI: every commit is public, and so are the specifications the agents worked from. In client projects I use Memstead to build structured knowledge bases for the client's AI assistants to work with.

Custom software for market research

Survey and analysis software plus a public API, in production B2B use. Requirements analysis, architecture, implementation, operations and support were all in my hands. Since October 2026 the work continues as ongoing support.

Questions and answers
What does the initial call cost?

Nothing. It takes 30 minutes, by video or phone. Afterwards we both know whether and how I can help.

Who owns the code?

You do. The application runs on your accounts and the code lives in your repository. There is no licence or subscription tying you to me.

Which industries do you work in?

The approach does not depend on an industry. I build up the domain knowledge within each project, as I did for years in market research.

What don't you do?

Mobile apps, desktop software and classic company websites are not part of my offer. Nor are accounting, payroll or other regulated core systems.

Do you work remotely?

Mostly, yes. In Berlin I am happy to come by in person. I work in German and English.
